In addition to the information given by our Cool Spring correspondent, of the hail storm that tell in that section of the county last Sunday, we have gleaned the following particulars from citizens living in and near the scope of country visited by the storm. The breadth of the storm was greater than that given l>y him, but the scope where the heavy destroying hail tell is perhaps less. Air. Daniel Lewis, who took shelter in a friend's house, two miles beyond Cool Springs, during the storm, informs us that for the space ot filtoen or twenty minutes the hail, without iain, loll incessantly, that beI'ore the rain fell there was no unsheltered, naked earth to ho seen. After the rain was over lie picked up one lump ami measured it. with a piece of twine; it was nearly six inches in circumference, and he thinks it had melted at least one-fourth before he picked it up. The damage to the crop is all that has been estimated by our correspondent. Cotton was literally stripped to the top bud. Much of the corn was cut down, and stalks left standing had chunks knocked off as thougl JTlone by glancing musket balls. Those who witnessed it all agree as to the great size of the hail stones. So T\ IK II far we hear ot but one loss of 1 if b\ | it, and that was i\ j?;oose who in imitn- 1 lion ot many others hold his heatl so 1 high that his skull cap was knocked . off i ^ 1 1 hsner Schools Kink? The s t rv I * * - r ment ol the County Ti...-jur< r, giving j the School Trustees and the pill k the inhumation of the amount ot school lands now in the treasury for school purposes, and the respective amounts , ^ to the credit of each school district, ' in advance of the oi?enin</ of the out., i c - I lie school*, is si departure that will be , iluly appreciated by the trustees snul the public, and one that is well worthy ol imitation by every County Treas, urer in the State. W e would suggest to our Treasarcr and School Commissioner that, whenever possible to do so, this information be given to the trustees and the taxpayers prior to the annual school district meetings, with such information and the report of the trustees showing the expenditure of this fund in their respective to.vnships; the legal voters would not only be enabled to act more intelligibly, but would take deeper interest in the subject of education, and often would strain a point to increase the school term and to establish new schools. We arc pleased to record the fact that in our county our administrative I and executive ollicers make use of every opportunity and means in their power to impart more light to the people on all subject matters connected with their otliccs. Such is not the case in many other counties. The contrast between the public ollieers in this county and Georgetown is quite striking. At the annual district meeting held in the town ol Georgetown, no information was given by either the commissioner or trustees as to what had Ihtoiho of the funds. Mi. H L. Kainoy, one of the trustees, expressed himself thai matters had been so managed l?y the school commissioner that there was no finding out how the money for school purposes had l)een expended. Ho believed it had been used for electioneering purposes; we should think more likely for the beneiit of (Jovornor Moses, and a leasehold on hi* own olliee.
