Chicago, Aug. 26.?iRules governin the payment of overtime rates, promulgated by the United States Railroad Laboar Board last week to supplant the overtime rul?s of the national agreement covering shop crafts employes, were rejected as "unjustified" by a conference of regional executive boards of the railway employes department of the American (Federation of Labor today. A letter was sent today to all locals, conveying the results of a three day conference just concluded. "By no conceivable line of reasoning," the letter said, "can decision 222 (the labor (board's rules decision) ibe justified and this ibody declines to accept it." All union members were warned, however, to remain at work until further official action Is taken iby anion officials. The letter advised that it was considered best to wait mtil the labor board had issued subJtitute rules for the entire national urreement before taklncr a referen lum vote on the matter. Meanwhile, however, the letter idvised the men "jn time of peace, x> prepare for war." The seven rules announced (by the >oard last week cover payments for )vertime, Sunday and holidays. A lumber of radical changes were nade and lalbor leaders declared the lew rules would materially affect the earnings of shop employes. A. 0. Portersville, Cal., Aug. 22.?Mrs. J. B. Bachman, forced to choose between her hualband and another man in the presence of iboth elected to remain true to her marriage, and thus sealed her death, which came an instant later "when the other flfcn, Walter H. Alexander, it is charged, shot and killed her yesterday. "Well, what are you going to do?" Alexander was quoted as demanding of Mrs. Bachman. "I guess I'll atay here," Bachman said his wife replied from her sewt beside him in an automobile. . Thereupon, Bachman says, Alexander fired a shotgun point-blank at tfie woman. The shooting occurred at the ranch home of H. B. Ceiling's, stepfather of Alexander, in %he Poplar district, near here.
