THE "FRONTS" WENT UP, TOO One of the big local hosiery con cerns recently solved a problem which had been puzzling its sales executives for some time. The con cern in question had been doing a nice business in the so-called lace "ankle front" silk hose for women, but it began to drop off. An investi- , gation was started, and an agree ment was finally arrived at that the trouble was due to the shortness o? the skirts women are wearing. The skirts displayed the entire lace "front" and several inches of hose in addition, whch gave something' the effect of a patch. Having deciJed l that longer "fronts" would solve the problem, the next question was how 1 a. i. _ j.1. m _ i__ _ t i a.i lung to maxe mem. io oe absolutely safe it was decided to run them clean to the garter hem.
