Investigation of restaurant prices showed profits of several hundred per cent, Mr. Poole said. Among the items he listed ,the first figure showiner the restaurant price and 1 the second figure the cost, are: Corn 15 to 20 cents, 2 to 4 cents. Tomatoes 25 to 50 cents, 2 1-2 to 3 cents. , x Coffee, 5 to 25 cents, 3 cents. French pastry, 20 to 30 cents, 8 cents. Potatoes, 15 to 45 cents, 3 cents. Bread and butter, (L5- cents, 3 -+ corporation carrying on or prosecuting any trade, business, occupation or profession, or running any estab1 lishment named in this Ordinance, or "upon which a license may hereafter be' imposed by the City Council, without first having taken out a license therefor, shall be fined (except in 1 cases where special penalties are imposed) not less than two dollars nor more than one hundred dollars or be imprisoned not less than two days nor more than thirty days . in the L county or city prison for each and every day such business, occupation or profession is carried on without such license. That this Ordinance shall go into 1 effect on the first day of November, , 1920, and all persons, firms, corporations or professions not conforming to its requirements shall be liable to , the penalties herein imposed from ! and after last mentioned date.
