WANT 8,000 MEN FOR , SERVICE IN SIBERIA ) Washington, May 8.?The apparent purpose of the United States to keep troops in Siberia for some time to come was disclosed today by the announcement of the War Department that eight thousand men will be enlisted for that service. Notice to that effect has been sent to all recruiting officers and commanding officers at posts. There are now serving in Siberia in the American expeditionary force 311 officers and -8,893 men. These will be replaced by those who enlist voluntarily. The conditions under which men wilKbe taken for Siberian service, as announced by the War Department, are "White men_ only will be enlisted for this purpose ; enlistments -or refeHttstments will be for a period of three years; men will be enlisted- in the infantry, signal crfrps, medical department, quartermaster department, ordnance department; the total number will be Appropriated as follows:? *7 nnn nnaocfnr AUXUil UA. C., May 7.?Noon today marked the passing of the Thirtieth (Old Hickory) division. The division headquarters were demobilized at C&mp Jackson and the rec -1- i. The outfit that broke the Himfenburg line has passed out. The permanent division at Camp Jackson is to b& called the Thirtieth in honor of "Old Hickory". One regiment of this is already being formed.
