He will soon be restored to his accustomed good fhealth. GOING TO THE CIRCUS. The Southern road sold two hundred and twenty-five tickets over their road last week to Greenwood to people eroinir over to the circus. An extra coach was put on and it was filled to the brim with colored people. THANKING JUDGE BENET. / Judge W. C. Benet has our thanks for a copy of his latest musical composition. Some weeks ago we published his poem "The Little Contemptible Army", which was published all over the state and was read "with much pleasure by his many friends. He has since set this poem to music and it has been published by West and Company, Rathbone < Place Oxford Street, London. The ballad is a stirring one and is sure to meet with popular favor. A THURSDAY WEDDING. Miss Mary Taggart and Mr. Carl D. Jackson, of Pacolet, will be married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Chalmers Thursday at one o'clock, Rev. H. W. Pratt officiating. The young couple will leave immedijfltely after for a trip before going to Pacolet, where they will make their home. THE SYMPATHY OF FRIENDS The sincere sympathy of a host of friends goes out to Mrs. R. S. Link and Mrs. L. C. Parker in the death of their father at his home in Courtland, Ala., last week. Mrs. Parker was visiting at her old home and Mrs. Link went out last Wednesday. I Mr. Harris had been postmaster in his home town for many years, and was a citizen respected by all. ENTERTAINING HER VISITORS Mrs. Frank B. Gary gave a pleasant card party Tuesday nigljt at' her home on Greenville street, complimen tary to her pretty visitors,* Miss Martha Ayer Duncan of Barnwell, and , Miss Vina Patrick, of Anderson. 'There were six tables and the ever 'enjoyable game of bridge was played. At the close of the evening a delightful salad course was served. Mrs Gary's visitors are very charming young ladies and they are receiving much pleasant attention. ENTERTAINING THE DOCTORS. Dr. Wiliiam Weston, who comes I to Abbeville today to attend the Better Baby Contest, will be enter, tained by Mr and Mrs. William Barnwell while in the city. Dr. E. W. Carpenter, who comes down from Grenville, and is an expert in eye, ear, nose and throat diseases will be the guest of Dr. and Mrs. G. A. Neuffer. Dr. Malone, who comes over from Chester, and is a general all around good doctor, will be the guest of Dr and Mrs. McMurray. Mis Mary Frayser, the Winthrop expert on baby contests, is being entertained by Mrs. M. T. Coleman. yj SATURDAY I* Saturday was a busy day with our merchants. The streets were lined with cotton wagons, people were getting a good price for their product and trade in the stores was lively. Cotton row presented an animated appearance and trading went on till late in the afternoon. The man who came to town Saturday with a dozen eggs to sell was as well off as the man with a bushel of cotton seed to sell. I HE COMES BACK. Frank L. Morrow, who learned to be a printer in the office of the Press and Banner, has come back to Abbeville, and has taken the position of pianaging foreman in the office. He is an expert printer, and has made a reputation for himself as a worker, and an all round good man. He has recently been the Editor and General Manager of the Press and Standard, in Walterboro, where he published one of the leading county papers oi the state. He will be glad to see his old friends at the County Fair. NEWS THE PICTURE SHOW. ' The picture shows for the pa; week have been of the very highei order. The Governor has ordered anothe election in the matter of the forma tion of McCormick County. Th advertisement of the election will b found in this issue. The Suprem Court recently ruled that the electio held last fall was invalid. We pr< sume that the proponents of the ne^ county are going to work on the ide that the election being invalid, n election has been in fact held, an that a valid election should now b held.
