Gilreath today swooped down on violaters of the law with withering effect, confiscating, at one swipe 96 barrels of beer, amount ing to 11.520 bottles. This Is believed to be the largest seizure of beer ever made In the State, and certainly smashes all records for the city of Greenville. The parties owning the beer had rented a warehouse near the Southern railway and one that was approached bv a sidetrack. Alter unloading the stuff, it is alleged, the owners changed the labelling on the barrels, making it ippear that the stuff was "near beer." Upon breaking into the bar rels, however, it was found that they contained the genuine article. The police have temporarily confiscated the warehouse, as the beer is toe much to be moved. Police Inspectoi Gilreath also swooped down upon nine barrels of whiskey, champagne, winos and other choice beverages, and bore them off of the pouring out place.
