Ifohlinif Cotton The following figures show conclusively that the farmers of Lancaster county mean businest in the matter of holding cotton : Week before last 1,000 bales were were on this market, last week 000, and this week but 80 bales. One day this week, Weknesday, there was not a single bale marketed here. The double brick store of Mr. M. Y. Cauthen, near the depot, is about completed, and presents a very nice appearance. Mr. M. Y. Cauthen is also j erecting a residence in the westi ern part of town. Mr. L. M. Bell, the veteran "knight of the yard stick and scales," may now he found at I the store of the Springs Bankling and Mercantile Co., where he will be pleased to ste his friends. We tire sorry to report the death of Miss Minnie Blackraon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Black mon, which occurred last I week, of typhoid fever. Stevens and Mr. B. Gregory were among the many citizens of Kershaw in Lancaster this week. .; - At Hate of Four Hates to the Acre While inLancaster this week, our old friend Mr. Geo. W. Phillips, until recently a citizen of this place, bu' now living in Uock Hill, told us of a remarkable patch of cotton in Iloek Hill, belonging to Mr. John It. Goins, who is also a form r Lancastrian. The patch referred to is but half an aero and yet Mr. Phillip says it is going to yield two bide* of cotton. A few years a::o i! was a poor piece of ground, hut Mr Goins has gradually brought it up to its present high state of culti vation. In addition to the cotton 011 the land, Mr. Goins has also raised a fine lot of vegetables,! having planted the seed about among the cotton stalks.
