After the installation an elegant banquet was served. r~Mr. David Lesley died on the 2tith ult., and was buried the day (ollowjnu his death at Cross Roads Church, a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends witnessing the obsequies. Mr. Lesley served through the war and had several sons in the conflict. Mr. Sheriff Brown is authority for the statement that there is not now living in the county a man who had sens in the war along with himself. If there is one We would like to know who it is as a matter of information. ?Miss Louise Jones, the popular little "hello" girl o( the Pickens Telephone exchange, was the happy recipient of a purse of money given to her during the holidays by the sub scrlbers of this exchange. W. C. Seaborn officiating. ?Last Monday was County Union meeting day and all the local unions were well represented. Business of mnch importance was transacted. Bowen is back at the Big Store ready to serve his friends and customers to the best^of his ability. ?harlie is a good salesman and he has many friends throughout the county who are delighted to know that he has again cast his lot in Pickens. ?The many friends in Pickens of Julius E. Parsons will learn with regret that he has moved to .Willianston. "Julo," who has been at the Big Store goes to Wllliamston to assume charge of a me^'hantile firm there, and it goes without saying that he will make good in his now field of labor. Pickens hates to lose him and his excellent family but wish for them all the good luck imaginable, and heartily commend them to the people of Willianiston. ?R. E. Yongue, of Pickens, left Monday with a force of carpenters, for Blairs, S. C., where ho goes to erect a large storehouse for Messrs Blair, Frazier & Co. Mr. Yonerue is ;i good carpenter and a fast one and turns off work in a hurry. There is no reason for "Bob" to go away from home to work as there ought to be plonty of work in Pickens for him to contract for.
