Quack watchers complain that the existence of “universal life energy” has not been demonstrated. Still, the National Institutes of Health is funding studies that look at the effect of energy work on joint disorders, wrist fractures, cardiovascular health, cancer, wound healing, neonatal stress, pain, fibromyalgia and AIDS. Some studies have suggested it might have positive effects on various orthopedic conditions, including fractures, arthritis and injuries to the muscle i-■ and connective tissue. Reiki is used in more than 50 major hospitals and clinics throughout the United States and is a good candidate for more because it is non-invasive ’and poses little risk to patients, according to a literature review published last August in the journal Orthopaedic Nursing. Drawing on their own experiences, the party’s featured reiki masters — Dawn Mucha, Paula Battaglio and Phillip Racette are firm believers in the healing power of touch and the strength of auras. Mucha, who has been using energy healing since 1987, believes that reiki can change lives by giving people a greater feeling of peace. “(After reiki) people are able to see and feel how connected life is. They have more compassion for everything, and are less prone to anger,” she said. 20 Wings • 2 Sides • 2 Sauces $13.99 Fast Delivery Open ‘til 1am Mon-Wed & 3am Thur-Sat 252-1818 You can't beat our creativity with a stick be a graphic designer.
