Norton likes not having to check in with her parents. She said she took a recent trip to Clemson and all her friends had to call home to check in with their parents. “I didn’t have to because I’m on my own and taking responsibility for myself” she said. nowever, mere are aownsiaes, Norton said. “One thing that I don’t like, though, is being sick. I’m sick more, and you don’t have that family to take care of you,” she explained. “You have to basically take care of yourself.” Buddin said his family misses him, especially his mom. “But I think they came to grips i with it,” he said, “They’re all right, they have my sister there to put up with.” But, he said, “I think my dog misses me more.” It sometimes “stinks, not being with family,” Buddin said. “I don’t get home cooked meals,” he said, adding that he also cannot “play golf whenever I want* for free” or go to the beach in Charleston. But Buddin said he likes “just getting to hang out with my friends from school because I don’t have to worry about school as much.” iNorton saia tnere are a lot or things she does not get to do with her family anymore because of her job. “I miss out on a lot, just like the everyday stuff,” she said. One event that Buddin will not miss this summer, he said, is the annual “big family get-together” at his house on Lake Marion for the Fourth of July. Comments on this story?
