IncJ PHOTO SPECIAL TO THE GAMECOCK ‘Garden State,’ starring Peter Sarsgaard, left, Natalie Portman and Zach Braff, comes out on DVD Dec. 21. ■ DVD Continued from page 5 rehearsals with Cruise and Foxx. DEC. 21 ‘King Arthur’ ‘Manchurian Candidate' ‘Napoleon Dynamite' ‘Shaun of the Dead' OUR PICK: ‘NAPOLEON DYNAMITE' (PG) No high brow humor here, the movie centers on the joy of acting stupid. Vaguely set in the Midwest, “Napoleon” has a bad ‘80s feel and we can’t get enough of it. Directed just out of college and edited in one guy’s apartment, this modern-day cultural touchstone has a low budget feel. Rent this if only for Napoleon’s dance scene in front of his school, and you’ll^ finally be able to understand all the things ycfpr friends keep quoting. Gosh! DEC. 28 ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' ‘Garden State' ‘The Village’ OUR PICK: ‘GARDEN STATE’ (R) The brainchild of “Scrubs” star Zach Braff, who also wrote and directed, this artistic indie gets better the more you watch, especially for those exhausted by the onslaught of action packed releases. This definitely isn’t for the special effects and surround sound set — the film relies on complex, painfully human characters, whose honesty and flaws make them identifiable. Natalie Portman lends a pretty face and a quirky persona to a DVD that also includes 16 deleted scenes, commentary and a making-of documentary. Comments on this story?
