The victim said that someone took his car with out his permission. Estimated value: $3000. Reporting officer J.M. Simmons. Saturday, Aug. 23 ® MALICIOUS INJURY TO REAL PROPERTY, 116 MARION ST. The complainant said that he found damage to the construction work on the tennis courts. Reporting officer J.L. Meador saw black bike tire marks and footprints that damaged new paint on the floor. Orange neon string and tennis balls were placed all over the court; first aid cabinets were found open, and it was unknown if something was missing. Estimated damage: $1500. o MALICIOUS INJURY TO REAL PROPERTY, DOUGLAS RESIDENCE HALL LOBBY. The complainant said that someone cut the alarm on the northeast fire door of the Douglas. Q AUTO BREAK IN, LARCENY OF CD PLAYER, 511 MAIN ST., BAND HALL PARKING LOT. The victim said that someone broke out the driver side window and removed a CD player and two small speakers. Estimated value: $85. The second victim said someone broke out the passenger side window and removed one Kenwood CD player, one CD, and one bottle of “Lucky You” brand cologne. Estimated value: $150. The third victim said someone removed a Sony CD player and 10 CDs. Estimated value: $330. The fourth victim said that someone removed eight CDs. Estimated value: $100. Sunday, Aug. 24 AUTO BREAK IN, GRAND O LARCENY OF CDS. 521 LINCOLN ST. The victim said that someone broke into his secured vehicle and took 128 CDs, a black CD case, 40 burned CDs and a radar detector. Estimated value: $1,445. Reporting officer: J.M. Simmons. O DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 1000 BULL ST. E.A. Adkins saw three subjects riding bikes and doing tricks in front of Davis • College. Adkins identified himself as a police officer and ordered the subjects to stop and come to him. The suspects fled on bikes and Adkins caught up with them in a parking lot. Andre Maldonado refused to comply with Adkins’ order to get off the bike. Adkins said Maldonado caused a public disturbance and arrested him. Reporting officer E.A. Adkins. Monday, Aug. 25 © MALICIOUS INJURY TO REAL PROPERTY, 1000 PENDLETON ST. The victim said that someone damaged the rear passenger side quarter panel of the victim’s car. Estimated damage: $250. Reporting officer: J.M. Simmons. o LARCENY OF ID CARD, 1400 GREENE ST., THE RUSSELL HOUSE. The victim said that someone used a sharp object to scratch his car’s hood. The driver’s door and rear driver’s side door were damaged. A note was also left on the victim’s car. Estimated damage: $800. Reporting officer: D. Pardue. BRIEFLY . v Business incubator to hire 8 students The USC Student Business Incubator Center is looking for eight USC students who have ideas for starting a new busi ness. The center will hold an infor mational meeting on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16 in Russell House room 234 at 5 p.m. Students accepted to the program will receive up to $1000, local telephone and com puter connections, computer work stations with printer, fi nancial management and ac counting software, free legal and business advice, business net working and mentoring oppor tunities. Applications will be available online starting Sept. 15 (at www.sg.sc.edu/SBIC.htm and at the Student Government office in Russell House room 234. Deadline __ for applications is Oct. 1. Crew team looking for new members Carolina Crew will be holding an informational meeting on Sept. 2 in Russell House room 303 at 8 p.m. The crew team is a co-educa tional rowing team that works to promote teamwork and ath leticism. Hospice Care needs student volunteers Hospice Care of Tri-County is looking for volunteers to work with a team of health care pro fessionals to provide quality care to terminally ill patients and their families in the com munity. By providing ongoing support for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families, Hospice Care of Tri-County seeks to promote quality of life, to help patients live with comfort and dignity, and to support families as they move beyond loss. A cappella group seeking fresh talent USC’s female a cappella group, Cocktails, will be hold ing an informational meeting on Sept. 3 in the Sims classroom at 7 p.m. The group performs a variety of music at several different venues on USC’s campus and in the community. „Auditions will be held for the ensemble Sept. 10 and Sept. 11. Although the university had intended for the renovations to be completed before the start of, classes, Jeffcoat said it should be done within the next six to eight weeks.
