Julin Finnish-born star is major player CONTINUED FROM PAGE 11 tirely around sports, however, as she finds her true release through music. "Soccer is a sport to me, but mu sic is everything. It helps me get pumped up; it helps me calm down. I listen to music every day." On game day, this athlete is all business, spending the day quiet ly by herself working and prepar ing mentally for the challenge ahead. When she isn’t on the field or studying sports management, Julin enjoys spending time with her friends. "Besides my parents, my friends have been the biggest in fluence on my life. Both have been very supportive, and I look up to them," she said. So how do all these qualities and influences combine to make a star soccer player? Julin sug gests that inner motivation and self-confidence are crucial to suc cess in any endeavor in life. "My best advice is simply not to give up. To become good at any thing there has to be a lot of effort on your part. You have to put in a lot of practice, and you have to be lieve in yourself. That is every thing," she says. Julin puts these words into practice every day on the field. As she consistently improves her skills, she promises to be one of the key players in current and fu ture Gamecock soccer.
