THREE TEAMS KEEP CLEAN GRID SLA TES Tenements One, Six and Twenty Have Won Two Games and Lost None MORE GAMES AFTER XMAS Crawford Suspends Schedule of Intramural Football Until After Holidays The Intramural football activities ceased yesterday afternoon and will Se resumed after the Christmas holidays. Four or five. days will be allowed for practice and tenement 29 will hook up with 4 and 5 in the initial after-hau day contest. Three teams are tied for leadership at the end of the second week. Ten ements 1, 6 and 20 have two victories each and not a single mark on the "lost column." Tenement 14-15 have thrown a monkey wrench into the system of the series by tying in both games they have played. The teams from 18 and 19 and from 11 and 12 have a standing of 500. per cent. Others have won no games. Few men have been injured in. th;s years series as contrasted with that of last fall when a large percentage were injured more or less seriously. Mr. Crawford is giving good equipment t the players and those that. have been enrolled in the regular gymnasium classes during the fall were given in struction and practice in the rudiments of the gridiron game by Charlie Rob inson and Jack Crawford. Woffordl broke away on a beautiful reverse endl run and carriedl the ball 25 yards where he was tackle,l on the ten yard mark. Davis took the oval and in two plays had played it across the goal line. Davis hurled his "big guns"-Foy, Burns and Wofford at the line as the second half began and in short ordler the oval wvas worked into enemy terrn tory. Burns, with constimnate ease, slipped off left tackle for the second touchdown. Tenement 20, Twelve; 28, Nothing Tenement 20 kept her slate clean by walloping tenement 28 twelve to noth ing. The Elliott team defeated 22 last week 19 to 0. 14-I5. Here's hoping old "Sol" will bestow his sunny smiles on Melton field as the series opens after the holidays. - INKPOT - ONE OF the best known of South Carolina athletes has become a fa miliar figure on the Carolina cam pus. Charlie Robinson, who played his last game in a Ciemson Tiger uniform in 1924, is taking M.A. work at the University. Robinson holds what is probably a world's high school record for drop kicks in a single gane. - INKPoT - IN THE Carolina-Clemson contest of 1923, Charlie defeated the Game cocks by placing a neat drop-kick between the uprights. Clemson won seven to six. - INEoT -- INTER-COLLEGIATE activities are at their lowest ebb at this period of the year. Drake intercepted a pass to dIrown the threat and the game ended three minutes later. Drake hurled a long pass to Fogle as the final quarter opened andl he all but managed to reach the goal lin. TIhe opposing defense tightened, how ever, and no further scoring wvas ac complllished. The advisoy board, in whose "BILL" COOPER Football Captain Elect Florence Boy Leads Gamecock Warriors "Bill" Cooper Elected to Captain Football Squad of the Coming Year William Cooper, a Florence boy, was. elected captain of the 1928 Universify' of South Carolina football team, at, a banquet for the football squad given Tuesday night at the Jeit-.rqon hotel. Cooper has( been an outstanding var sity back for two, seasons and, was a regular player on the freshman eleven in his first year at the University. The news that he had been elected as cap tain was received with much enthus iasm'6n the campus. "Bill," as he is known by everyone, was one of the most dependable backs on the Carolina team during the season just finished. He pounds )opposing lines with terrfic power and he is an excel lent defensive ian. The football banquet was charactir ized by the absence of long-winded specches. Former Captain Wingfiell was the only member of the team to be called on to talk. Power Rogers, pres:dent of the Block "C" club acted as toa.tmiaster.
