Jesse Cochran, indicted for as sault and battery with intent to kill and carrying concealed weapons, waa tried iii his absence. The verdict ol the court waa that he be confined at hard labor for, a period of four months or pay a fine of S150. Peter Broyles entered a plea of guilty on a charge of larceny and was sentenced to four months. John Shaw and Jim Jones, indicted on the samo c'..arge, were tried and found not guilty. Sam Griffin also entered a pica of guilty on an Indictment of larceny. Me received ? sentence of -jtwelve months, four of which are to*b? serv ed, tho other to be suspended during good behavior.
