There were more than 2,000 delegates in attendance at the convention and great eagerness was mani- , fested by them in the completion of ratification so that all of the women of the country can participate in the 1 Presidental election. Word was received at the convention from Oklahoma to the effect that a special session of Oklohoma Legislature would be called Feb. 23 to con- ' sider ratification of the amendment. Special attention was directed by < the convention to the situation in the | State of Washington, the only equal , suffrage State in which no move has been made to call a special session. Under instructions from the meeting 1 Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, President of the Association, sent the following * telegram to the- Governor of Washington : "Washington is now the only en- 1 franchised State which has not taken ' action toward ratification of the Fed- ' oral Suffrage Amendment. Thirty- ^ five ratifications are assured in the immediate future. The nation has been informed for many years that ' Washington approved woman sutF- v rage. it therefore looks to you to call ' an immediate session of your Legis- 1 lature, and once more announces 1 Washington's indorsement of woman 0 suffrage by ratification of the Feder- v al amendment." 11 I J. I T^Tht atk DEMOCRATS MAKE DEFINITE PROPOSAL REGARDING ARTICLE X Democrat Senators have set in motion a plan which may prove .to be the final effort to reach a compromise on the reservations to Article X of the League Covenant of the Peace Treaty. 'I he pledge was made in writting by twenty-eight of these Senators to support by their votes either of two difinite reservations, and a proposal to that effect was submitted through Senator Hitchcock to Senator Lodge, the Republican leader. It was suggested by Senator Hitchcock that Senator Lodge let his colleagues choose between these two proposed forms of the reservation ind then offer the one selected in the Senate. He told Mr. Lodge that whichever of the two reservations was agreed to hythe majority of Senators would be supported not only by he twenty-eight Democrats who had ligned the pledge, but thut there were .welve additional Democratic Sensors, now absent from Washington, who would support it. We quote below the two forms of he proposed reservation, the first her.g that considered by the recent bipartisan conference and the second peing one suggested by Ex-President From Three Years' Suffering.
