Among the political announcements appears the name of John Andrews for magistrate for Pee Dee Township. The name should be John A Anderson. There will be a mass meeting at the Courthouse next Sunday at ! p. m., for the benefit of tho new registrants. There will be fine music and several good addresses. Public is cordially invited. Miss Mattie Gaddy who has been conducting a summer class in music, will leave Friday for her home in Wingate. She will return when school opens in September. Mr. D. J. McLnurin, of Louisville, fin ? f i., Chesterfield Tuesday on legal business. At last the county chain gang has moved to within striking distance of the Courthouse. ' SUICIDE IN JAIL Lester Jordan, who had been in the county jail several weeks on a lunacy charge and waiting to be taken to the State Asylum, committed suicide last Thursday by hanging. Jordan used a strip from a blanket, which he fastened to the top of the cell door, the other end of which he died around his neck.
