A combination entertainment, The Perils of l'auline, and a photographic baby show drew a record crowd. The house was packed to its capacity and some of the spectators became nervous about the strength of the floor and c*osed some excitement on leaving. The building is said to be well constructed and thoroughly safe, but this incident serves as a warning that a disaster is possible. The sustaining capacity >f the floor ought to be ascertained and more suitable exits should be provided in order that the house may be quickly emptied in case of panic. Hough of the Dudley section of this county, died last Friday in a sanitarium in Charlotte. Mr. llough was one of Chesterfield's oldest and most respected citizens, having been for years active both in church work and politics.
