The spirit actuating Cheraw citizens | in this undertaking is admirable. It true to the traditions of that hustling little town. ' The ladies of Chesterfield" are I to-day entertaining in true Ohes- 1 terfieldian fashion the Confeder- ft ate soldiers of this vicinity. K These occasions will soon be a V thing of the past as with each ft passing year the grey ranks are ft becoming thiner. w These generous hearted ladies ft do well to seize upon this oppor- K tunity to make the day as pleas- ft ant as possible for the grand old 1 heroes, that they might be re- E minded tl.at their sacrifccs and ft su.Ferings are appreciated. 8* It is also a big day for farmers. ~ Mr. E. There was some excitement in Chesterfield when it was rumored that the Sheriff had a hurry call to Pageland. STATE WAREHOUSE On last Saturday a representative of the South Carolina Warehouse System visited this section, explaining the working's of the system. The Advertiser will have more to sav on this subject later. It is sufficient to say now that the subject is commended to the careful consideration of the farmers of Chesterfield county. There is no doubt that the unsatisfactory Drices farmers nan ally get for thoir cotton is largely due to the necessity of immediately placing a great proportion of the crop on the market. The reason a larger proportion of the crop is not held is because of the very high rate of insurance charged the warehouses and the high rate of interest charged for money loaned on the stored crop. The South Carolina Warehouse System aids the farmer by Re curing a very low rate of insurence on the stored cotton and a material reduction on the rate of interest charged.
