PAGE FOUR SPECIMEN SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS MISTAKEN FOR REAL THING Specimen social security account cards placed in billfolds b> a manufacturer, to indicate the space provided for the employee's official card, have been mistaken for the real thing by some employees, acording to \V. H. Nix on, Jr., manager of the Social Se."/ tirit.f R.-intvl nt Pnl lituhin s. C. Ik- added that in the future specimen cards used by this man ufacturer would not include a nuin ber. Mr. Nixon stated that the Board ; recently found among employers' wage reports a number of employees listed with the same social security number?078-06-1120. This number- had been issued by the Sociul Security Board to a woman fn Lockporf, New York. lTpon investigation, the Board who were using-the number had purchased billfolds containing spec imefT sociuT security cards w ith this number printed on them. Not realizing that each employee must have a separate number assigned by the Social . Security Board these employees had reported the number on the specimen card to their employers. This situation was called to the attention oi tne manuiacuirer oi the billfolds, Mr. Nixon said, and he very gladly agreed to discontinue use of a number oil the specimen cards. Mr. Nixon explained that the employer is required to report each employee's account numbel ' when he reports his wages. This number is the one under which the Hoard keeps the employee's wage record. To/insure that his wages are. always correctly credited to his account, each employee should 1 ? sure that hi? employer has the n;*-iii'. el- assigned to him by the Soc.ttl Security Hoard. lilt.
