Atlantic Ocean, from Oconee county to the Savannah River. This shepherd to whom I refer t( to is no less than Dr. George Goings Daniels, Georgetown,?S: C.T ^ jwho is a pastor, organizer, builder I business man, vice-president of s the State Baptist convention, moderator of two associations, presi- e' dent of a Sunday school and B. ~1 Y. P. U. convention, with no less 1 qualifications and even greater than mentioned above. To be a great college it must be headed by one who is willing to serve the denomination, humanity and God. To pour out his selfish ambitions, empty himself of _ all vain glnry and lny ability and influence on the altar to be use:! of God. Dr. G. G. Daniels is the man. He has been loyal and a - aclf?sacrificing?servant;?he has sponsored the cause of the college has followed its fortunes in sunshine and shadow,^'has sought not his own glory and personal advancement, but has labored to advtince?the glory of "His Cross and he stands out today as a hero in Christian endeavor and brilliant achievements. It is not my purpose to over estimate nor to exaggerate but I piotTose to say the truth and nothing less. In my mind the Baptists of South Carolina are ask ing for Morris cillege a president ?wrthf the^ capability- of ~"8elf " t nuncition, a keen sense of respon{ sibility for the general welfare of e all, fidelity, reliability. The spir_ it of reconsolation and forgiveness, the maintenance of family Hie, the possessor of the ideal of I ' unity, father for boys, protector I - for girls. .' ! The spirit of tolerance, patience I and promptness, tendency to plan I for the future, and recognition of I the enlarged responsibility of lead ership,- self control, self respect. I and relying upon the force of public opinion exhibited by the Baptist church. The suppression of the spirit of jealousy and the employment of courtesy, tact, cour age and persistence. The pcsses_ sion of energy, common sence. and the capacity for tradition. We might search the state from side to side,mountain and valley, and home of the. rich, the poor, among the great and humble, yet, we shall not find a man who possesses the fore going qualifications so completely as does Dr. G. Goings Daniels. J^et's elect Dr. Daniels, president of Morris colege so ninety per cent of the Baptists in the^ stale will not be disappointed. In talking to six moderators of associations yet to meet, they all trfrrep that the,proper and expnedi-" ent thing to do is t? elect a president for Morris on September 26, and if Dr. Daniels is elected it will mean a new day for our college.
