which was enjoyed by all.

cream was served.

its first social affair on Friday,
February 17, a dance at the Rec-'
reational center. It was quite a|
colorful affair, and a success.
We had quite a few guests
from out-of-town. They were1
here from Marion, Mullins, Nich-'
ols, Dillon, Hartsville, Cheraw,'
Laurinburg, N. C., Wadesboro, N.1
C., and many near by places. J
We are hoping to have another i
phase of amusement in the near!
future.

L. Nix. vice-president of Aiken
County Teachers' association. Prof
Nix gave a very warm and hearty
welcome to the teachers in behalf
of Aiken county. "We feel
glad and very happy to welcome
you here today to Aiken county
which composes of 157 teachers"

by asking the question, "What
makes the school and what is the
school? It matters not how fine
the school building may be, if thej
teachers do not go into it with all
their hearts, it is not much good"
he declared. "As far as education

the school and the church go hand
in hand in making good citizens"
He continue^, "If the teacher
makes the child know he knows
h's work, he will^ have the boys
and girls under control in his
classroom". In regards to health
he said, "teach the child to protect
his health because we can do
nothing without~it".

Northcutt, Special Jeanes teacher
from Washington, D. C. Miss
Northcutt's address appealed to
every "person present. She deliv
ered a message that will long re-,
main in our minds as she gave us
somthing to thinlr about that will
be of much importance in every
day life. She showed the teachers
the necessity and value of be-4
ing truthful and real?she termed)
it, "put the cards on the table".

President, Prof. A. W. Nicholson,
who has recuperated after being
confined to his bed for over a
month. He has again started his
