The place was at the home of Mias Stroman, 2209 Pendleton St. The room was beautifully decorat- 1 ed with the club colors. The members and their guests arrived at the appointed hour, and ) J}. at this point, the fun began. The music furnished for this occasion was very unique and was played only in the "Miles" form of rhythmic syncopation. Tha party waa " !! J1 i -? i very successful ar.d every one had a very nice time. The club was indeed glad to recognize the presmce of Mrs. Juliet liaiford Gilliam and Mrs* Margaret Randolph !3anks, both are honorary members f the club. Mrs. Gilliam is a Columbia girl who is doing well in the business world. Mrs. Banks is formerly of Columbia, but after her marriage to Mr. Hiran Bank? of Washington, D. C.. she has es, tablished residence with her husband. We were also glad to have with us Miss Willie Mae Gilliam, Mr. George House, Mr. Pullium and many others. We hope for all of our visitors and guests a very prosperous new year. Hendricks and wife of Augusta, Ga., and former pastor of Jones Chapel A M.E. Zion church and Mrs. R. B Hendricks arrived in Columbia*, S C,, Monday evening, December 28 to be the guests_for several days of Rev. R. B.. Gilbert and wife. He is the energetic pastor of Gilbert Chapel Baptist xhurch. corner Bull and Tobacco streets. Mrs. R. B. Gilbert was hostess at a sur prise party and reception in honor of Rev. and Mrs. R. B. Hendiicks at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday ev ning in her lovely home 602 Whaley street. The house was beautifully deco-rated with holly, mistletoe and va , ri-colored Xmas lights. BRONZEMEN The Bronzemen held their first meeting of the year on Monday night, January 4th, 1937, at the home of Mr. Eugene Thomas, 2104 Elmwood St. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Davis Bethea. There were many issues passed that will bring forth a wonderful program for the year of 1937 Mr. David Bethea, who is head and founder of the Bronzemen predicts the year 1937 will be a prosperous one. A'Ctcr meeting, the hostess served a delicious course of fried chickem, rice, salad, sweet peas, hot cocoa and fruit cake. ~ 1 -? ? -r There were several out of town visitors. Among them were: Mr. and Mrs. James Wajtts. of Greens- J boro, N. C., a relative of Mr. G. 1 Thomas; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Black, of Saulsbury, N. C. and Dr. G. MnTagood of North Carolina.
