This, certainly was an enjoyable Sermon. i At 5:15 p. m. the League serk vices began with Mr. Henry Webber, our president in charge. After .the devotions, our speaker foi the evening was introduced. Pres. Abram ftimpson of AP"ii "nil sity certainly did give us a wondei ful lecture. We hope that all who heard it will press onward very hard until their goal is reached. Reverend Lewis preached for u. at 7:30 p. m. His text was taken from 1st Timothy 0:7 and he as hjs subject, "Helpless -Man ar.d the- Providing Savior." Church On "October 18, Rev. W. P. Dr. Benbow. our P. E., preached from the l!2th chapter 5th- verse from the Acts of the 'Apostle; rnhjent: "Amuvi'lto Prayer." Both sermons by the pastor and P. E. were both uplifting and inspiring and on Tuesday night our ex-pa-tor, Elder. J. C. Quarles, stopped through enroute to the conference; he was the guest of Mr, and Mrs. Baraett. He preachej flrom Revelation 12th chapter 1-13th verse; subject. "John's Vision of the Lord." His sermon was very good on Sunday. Miss Alberta Kennedy and Heler October 18. Miss Marie Jackson. Edwards Were the eue<ts of Mrs. Amelia and Essie Greene, and Miss I.ula Crawford spent the weekend here as the truest of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Green. Mr. Irvin Lawrence of Salters. S. C. visited here yesterday and h? was all smiles over a certain young lady here in Andrews. SURPRISE PARTY On October Oth, a very beauti ful surprise birthday party \vaRiven in honor of Prof. J. E. Smith. The house was beautifully decorate., in a pink and preen color scheme. A beautiful cake adorned with pink and green decorations, rested in the center of the table on a bed of green leaves and pink roses. The only , lights were two tall 'pink candles and the lights on the cake. "Happy Birthday" written in huge pink JettQrs, on a green back ground floated" in mid-air above the table. Prof. Smith cut the ; cake and each guest was served a slice with ice cream. Souveniers containing pink anH^ green mints were given each guest.
