The Sunday school at its usual hour with the oinctrs at their posts of duty. Quite a number were present atour Sunday morning worship. Rev. Lewis preached a wonderful soul stirring sermon. His text was taa en from Solomon 1:4; subject-Remembrance of Christ. The Jubilee choir from Brown chapel in Arthurtown sang for us Sunday evening at 4 P.M. They certainly rendered lovely music. The evening, worship began at 8 P.M. IJcv. Irezevant preached an interesting sermon. The choir rendered splendid music at both services. The League opened Sunday with Miss Adams in charge. A very interesting discussion was tarried on. Due to the absence of the president the Pew Rally that was I to have been had was postponed until Sunday coming, August U. The captains are Misses Adams, Stroye, Dunlap, Lewis and Mr. Hunter. Come out and help make tne rally a success. The League elected their delegates for the convention Monday night, August 3. They are Misses Eva Porterfield and Rachel Kinard. To help swell our treasure the i^eague is giving an apron party ' at the home of Miss Rachel Kinard 2107 Lady street Friday night, August 14th at 8 P.M. Come out to help^make it a success. The lesson was well taught by each class. The delegates to the Sunday school convention gave very interesting reports to the school that were enjoyed Lny all. He used for hie ciihiert Some Practical Duties -of a Christian.' These are some of the uu-~~ ties brought out in the message: 1. Love one another; 2. be kino, to one another; 3. Rejoicing in 1iope; 4. Patient in tribulations; 5. Continue in Prayer; 6. Unite our- 1 selves in the cause of God; 7. Recompense no man evil lor evil. That is -'Fight not evil with evil but evil with good". The spirit ual tide ran high throughout the , message. The Holly Communion ( was administered to a large number. The A. C. E. League met at 6:30 o'clock with a large attendance. Night service waa largely at tended. The pastor dqljyprpd nnother strong message. His text was found Rom. 12:2. He used for his subject: Transformed Minds the Need of the Hour. Mr. Blocker of Colombia was presented to the congregation and made some encouraging remarks, Plans have been perfected for a small rally for the Stewards, the third Sun- , da)y. The rally is in the form of a, Pew Rally. Let everyone do his or her best to make this rally as successful as the trustees. Mrs. Lemon, the directress of the Junior choir played a leading part in sponsoring Rev. Lemon, making him the most popular pastor of Allen Temple. The L. J. Coppin Missionary So* V tftiety sponsored a very unique project to help raise their assessment .known as the "Coat of Many Col Vors". The coat was covered with patches of different colors with person's names and donations under them. A neat sum was raised. Much credit is due to the President, Mrs. Bessie Logan. _ On Wednesdayi July - 29r 1030 Misses Jessie Bishop and Tecora Smith had as' their guests Rev. two sons Hale Jr., and Earl and Mrs. Moore of Asheville, N. C. at , the hdpie of Mils Jessie Bishop on Kelljf^Ave. They were entertained by Mesdames Hattie Duckett, Lula Davis, Mr. William Hill and others of Greenville. At v r.m. a delightltiL?dinner ^ was served, a vegetable course, chicken, ice cream and - other things. After dinner the guests were entertained at the home of , Mrs, Effa Garrett 406 Cook St. with delightful koolade, cake and ice cream.
