Helen Kartell and her three sons, and daughter, Miss Smith. ^ Immediately after we adjourned from Sunday school the pastor ascended the rostrum and preached ~T a soul stirring sermon." His text was taken from Matt. 4:8; subject look up. Everyone seemed to have bec\n inspired >Vming the service. The program was well attended and. splendid. Collection $4.50. The pastor presented Rev. Gordon who preached a wonderful amnion. Mr. Julius mown the oldest son of the late Rev. D. M. Brown and the youngest debator connected with the Grand United Sons and Daughters of Moses of .Pamplico No. 1 Lodge; Bro. L. E. Wilson, wordly shepheard. The lodge gives him high honor because he came back and installed their mothers and -father- lodge. He has set uP lodges at Spring Branch and St. Paul and is still working. We extend sympathy to Mr. L.~ ? E. Hyman and Mr. Willie Judge who got their feet hurt in an accident. " Rev. I. II. Dozier was the dinner guest of Mr. Taft Guiles. We were proud to have had four gentlemen of Bishopville to visit us. They were the dinner guests of Mrs. Dopier Sunday. Mr. Gnat MStehel and Willie Thomas of Marion were the evening guests of Misses Pressie Cousack and H. Judge. The people here are very happy to have r?jeeived the rain that fell during the past few days. Prof. E. E. Guiles has finished summer school in Darlington for this year and reported a successful term. WESTON CIIAPEL A M. E. CHURCH Rev. M. G. Williams, Pastor Greenood, S. C.?Suunday services at Weston Chapel were all that could be desired. At 10:00 a. m. the Sunday school stajff was at their post of duty. A large group of children greeted them with an expression of joy in their every movement, to again have an opportunity to learn of Jesus. After the reports from the classes, the entire School was called into a business meeting by the pastor to elect delegates to the Sunday School institute which convenes the 2Jrd and 24th inst. Thelma Sims and Mrs. Ethel Carter -were chosen and Miss Vernola Pope and Miss Univeta Fuller, Alternates. ? The morning services tiegan at 11:15 a. ni. The text selected by the pastor was from I Cor. .'1:9. Every one present was inspired by . this message which was so niasteniuljy delivered. The evening servicp began at S:.'1Q. at which time the pastor delivered -another inspiring message to an appreciative audience. Dreher and teachers at their post of duty. At twelve o'clock. Rev. Dixon preach ed a very nice sermon; his text was 3th chapter.and 3rd verse, Theme '"Striving for the goal. A/V ter this great sermon-one member was added to the church. After these services, Rev. Dixon and Mrs. Dixon and Mr. Johnnie Sinner M. P. Jones and Miss _~~Annie Mae Davis motored to the City of Cttltnubia where they were the- dinner guests of Mrs. Fannie Kenedy. At 3 o'clock- the Seven Wonders were sponsored by the ladies the church. At five o'clock Mrs. Margaret Reed was funcralized. This was a very sad occasion. She was a member of Double Branch. At eight o'clock Rev. S. L. Glass preached, another strong sermon. Mrs. Clara Caugh man's s lister harf returned to Jacksonville, Fla. Miss Clara Mae Bailey has returned to New York. Miss Bai-. ley was visiting her mother, Mrs. Edith Holmes. The subject "Social Service in the early church" was well discussed and widcjy reviewed by the various classes. In the high noon service,, the pastor delivered unto his audience one ?rnore of his soul stirring messages'. His textr ip found Romans 5:4. The church completely enjoyed, that sermon. At .'1:00 o'clock on the same day rrnr?pastor motored over to St. James, Rev. Martin, pastor, with quite a group of his members. All declare the service was fine. On SUnday afternoon quite a number of Shiloh members attended a singing contest at Antioch, just, across town, where all enjoyed fine singing. After all the good day's service a three fold congregation assembled hack at Shiloh to attend a gnat Popularity Contest. ' The contestants were Rev. Harper of Alt. Bonn, Sr., was a pulpit guest and made complimentary remarks relative to the sermon. The quarterly conference was a signal success. The stewaids report showed that a neat sum was paid the pastoi' and the presiding elder was paid in full as usual. All other reports were commendable.
