Greenwood made a long step forward when her leading?pastor? and ministers met at "the- parson^ age of the Mt. Pisgah A. M. E Church a few days ago and oiga nized an interdenominational ministers' union. Rev. J. S. Benn, Presiding Elder of the Greenville V District of the A. M. E.?Churcrr \ was elected president. Rev. J. C. Goode, one of the counties leading rural pastors was elected vicepresident. Rev. E. J. Daniels, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, this city was elected Sec. Rev. Hall, pastor of Tnnity M. E Church, here, was elected treasurer, and Rev. B. H. Cray, pastor ol Mt. Fisgah A. M. E. Church was elected assistant secretary and news paper reporter. ~s? This group of consecrated ministers have decided to make things go in Greenwood. They lost sight on denominational lines, ** pledging themselves to. not be hem med in nor circumscribed behind nor by such. They agree to disagree as to issues denominational; and to look forward toward the bringing about?rrf?tnngibl a so. lutions of the vexations problems that ever keep Christian unity imprisoned. Yes, they pledge broth erly tolerance the promotion of bringing about of more upity and good feelings among ministers in particular and the people in gen eral. We are proud beyond -words of this meeting. We pray for its ^growth and - slice ess_- ?Nothing anywhere more needed could jcorhe into being. We are proud that the \, day has come when Chris, urn imperfect men, serving the Lord, have closed to spot and quarrel! over denominational differences. Last Monday the writer received a telegram from Union asking j that I come to Santuc and preach the funeral of Sister Eliza Dent.' j| On our arrival we found that the * snow and vrain was still there,1 iyet a respectable audience was in, attendance to help share the bur-' den of the bereaved. Undertaker j McKissick, one of the best in Union Co. said that was his four-! teenth since Christmas and at the close of the grave, a call was there for another body. I visited Union where I spent five loving years of service and while there I called in to the homes of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Nicholas, Mrs. Bailie Mitchel, Mr. qnd Mrs. Guss Feaster, Mrs. Gipson, Mrs. Tannic Davis, Mr. W. E. McJunkins, secretary of Bethel Church; President Rice who we appoint to handle The Palmetto I-eader and we spent most of our time with the Rt v. A. Prof. Butler worshiped at St. Philip last Sunday and made a most interesting address. Work is now -going on at St. Philip. The yard and cemetery are being beautified. The Primary group under the leadership of Mrs. Peek and Miss Wiison had thirty-one present. A demonstration in Reading was given by Miss Wilson "Why the Tea Kittle Sings."
