C.?Sunday morn; r- ing^in spite of the inclement wear ther, a large crowd found their way to Sunday Suliuul.?After the class study of the lesson the school ? was beautifully reviewed by the Supt. Mr. R. S. Russell. At 11:30 the members?and friends were on the job as usual. After alll preliminaries the pastor selected his text from St. Luke | 4:18-19, subject Jesus in His Heme Town. The sermon was very in structive and ntany vital points were brought out. Mrs. Arie Thompson, one of our ex-members was present and made encourag 1 -ing remarks. At 7:30 we listened to another soul stirring sermon by the pastor. Text J>t. Mark 14:64. On Tuesday night, January 21 we enjoyed a wonderful class meet ing. Our pastor knows how. to. . keep the church alive, spiritually and financially. Just before the close of the meeting the members surprised the pastor with a lovely overcoat which was presented by Miss Estelle Janerette. Rev. Witherspoon, Pastor In spike of?lowering clottds and threatened rain, the services at Morris Brown were well attended on last Sunday. The day was designated as Officers Day. The sermonette to the little church was well received by old and young. The theme aijound which the scrmonette whs developed was "Procrastination". The danger of-ptrt ting off, was stressed by the pastor,?Splendid?services were?eonducted by the church school and the league, and immediately aft'eii the closing of th^ League servic es, the processional into the church began. A splenid picture was pre septed as the'procession marched into the church, led by the two usher boards, followed by the ministers,?then -the- Stewards- -and Trustees, and the different auxiliary bodies in regular order. The Junior choir led the processional. The entire body marched into the church to the tune "Onward Christian Soldiers". Bro. R. Crawford offered the invocation. The guest speaker was Rev. A. P. Spears, presiding elder of the Sumter district. The speaker was introduced by the pastor. Dr. Spcar^-clectrified the large audience with a sum surring sermon aDiy preached from Romany 1st chapter ahd 14th verse. "Spirits of Great Men" was the theme that was developed from the text. "A Frivolous F.xcuse" was the theme from which the pastor delivered hi* last seTmon for the day.
