Pare 6 " - - HAPPENINGS AT VOORHEES Great interest is centered just now at Voorhees in the coming dedication of the new academic building, better known as Massachusetts Hall, L which is complete and ready for. ocP cupancy. This building (11 well ap: pointed class rooms and an auditorium to seat one thousand people) was given by the Diocese of Massachusetts and the General Education Board combined. The cost is around $80,000.00 which includes desks, tables, 'chairs and equipment for the chemistry and physics laboratories. In a few days the construction of the Girls' Industrial Building ''.(which is given by the I'm ish of St.'James, Wilmington, North Carolina) will be started. ,JVe believe this is the first case of white people in, one Southern Statff ~gi vtng-^a- build in g in another Southern State for J^egro education. This is the case at Voorhees, and the building is to be known as the North Carolina building. It will house the cooking, sewing and nanuicrait work lor tne young women on the first floor, with rooms, on the second floor for the entertainment of guests. ' -y. Visitors last week at the school included Dr., Robert \y. Patton, of New York, Director of the 'American Chur h Institute f6iv.Negroes; Mr. and Mrs. John S. Ramey of Aiken, S> CL; Air, .and" Mfg.
