Negro editors-regard the maneuver as playing to the gallery of Georgia "Llly-whltc- " HOME ECONOMICS CONFERENCE AT STATE COLLEGE Style Show in April?Cotton ?'-Goods'to be Used The fifth Annual Iloirte Economic Conference opened its meeting at the College Friday morning,,Slov. 30, for a two day Session with a large num ber from all parts <rf~the State gathr. ered. Miss Gardiner, director of. the Home Economics Department^ of the College, opened the meeting by. giving an outline of the topics to be discussed in the Conference and also the history of the Conference. She mentioned, too that this is the first annual meeting as a separate unit from the Agricultural and Vocational teach ers, who now; have district meetings instead of. a ffttate gathering. Ihe hrstjbasiness meeting was held in Hodge Hall, Friday afternoon 1:30 o'clock at which time Dr. It. S. -Wilkinson, president of the Cbllege, delivered an address on the subject: "Assuming the Responsibitrty~Tir Carrying out the Modern Trend of Education." Amopg the many things he said was, "that there is a tenden .cy _on the parL-of?teachers-to?^Ritualize'their teaching." At this point he urged the teachers of Home Economics to be more practical. Miss Williams from. Florence and second vice-president of the I'ee Dee section expressed an appreciation to ' Dr. Wilkinson iri behalf of the Home Uconomic teachers. wh0 are alumnl of the College for his untiring efforts in broadening the Home Economic de partment of the College. . \ .
