From Cheray our itinerary carried us to Bennettsville,".a VeTy hospitable" place. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph II. W. Morris, former Columbians made our [stay at Bennettsville very pleasant. Mr. Morris formerly of the undertak-J ing'--llrm, Johnson, Bradley, Morris,of "Columbia, is now conducting a well appointed funeral establishment at Bennettsville. Mr. Covington owns and conducts~about the best colored motion "picture housc for .colored peo-. pie in South Carolina'. Mr. Thompson conducts a class "A" meat market and has an exclusive location for it.. Mr. Counts has. an excellently supplied drug store and seems to be well patronized. Dr. Ilanna is Bennettsville's physician and Dr._ Lawrence McCollum her dentist, lioth seem trr thrive. ' Drr: Garrett has a growing practice and is well, liked generally in PMlpn.* Dr. Gordon, Dillon's physician is on the go all the time. He lias a wonderful practice and splendid oll'ico*?au?i?equipment.?Mvw. Mooro has a nice building, which might be made into a real decent restaurant and hotel. Rev. I. W. Janerette, pastor Gf the A. M. E. church is getting along nicely. The last places visited we've Marion 'and Mullins. At Marion, Mr. Garrett P. Moore,,has released a few iss^s. of his newspaper The Marion Guide. The people of Marion are quite enthusiastic over this journalistic effort. l While at Marion, we were the guests |of Miss Inez Collins and her brothers Messrs. Harold and Jesse Ellis. From Maridn-we-went- to Mullins and wore domiciled at the home of Mrs. Carrie Chism. Rev. J. L. Ducket^, of -the-A^iM. E. church introduced us to the good people of Mullins nnd due to his congenial spirit many subscrip. tions were secured. Mullins* is' the largest tobacco market in the state, so people oi an races were vjery ousy. Mullins is without the services of " either a colored physician or dentist.
