LOCAL CELEBRATION OF THE!
FREE & ACCEPTED MASONS
' ' : * . ???|
On Friday, April 9th the local or-*
ders of the Free and Accepted Masons
held their annual banquet in Chappelle's
Administration on the campus
of Allen University. Corinthian Lodge
No. 11 and Capitol City Lodge No.4
47, united in one big effort to put
over nnq pf the most elaborate pro-'.
grams ever" presented by this OrderT^
There was plenty of interest shown,
and judging from the success of the4
occasion, every local Mason?of?theabove
named Lodges must have put,
their Whole soul and budy into this1
celebration to bring it to such a sue.-'
cessful climax. There were in atten-J
dance. 260 real Masons This nnmher ;
included some visitors from other j
towns that cnme to help put this pro?-?

Mr. J. S.Stanback, Most Excellent"
High Priest, was present to deliver an
address. He is not only known in
this State as a Mason of high rank
byt is known all over~the Country, being
president, his remarks were in
keeping with the developement and
acted as an inspiration to all that were
in attendance. _
The program was one of the best
gotten up for an occasion of this kind J
It was not very long but those that
participated in it seemed to have giv
en some time in preparing their res
pective parts. ^ - * [
The Masonic Glee Club made its
. *first appearance on this occasion. It
is comp'osed ,of members of the Masonic
Order and also members of the
Eastern Staro. . j.
Mr. J. B. Lewie, W. P. M., introduced
the.'~Master of Ceremnnipa - Mf i
_W. N. Roseboro, P. M. His remarks
- " were short but to the point.
: Mr. Roseboro acted his part- well,
and deserves great credit as a young
M afeoh. .> ?^ ?(
Mrs. E. B. Lewie;W. M., read a very,
interesting paper on "The Outlook of
The Eastern Star." 1
Mr. E. ~L. Kyer, P. M., should be
given special mention jrn his address
It was one of the best of its kind ever
) "delivered Jbefore a local gathering.
* Mr. W. H. Tliuiiias, R. W. G. G?
had the ? honor?of introducing the
. speaker for the occasion, Mr. J. S.
; Stjanback ,
-'After the program, the entire body
headed by W. H. Thomas were ush-'
ered into the ^ dining hall of the buil-J
ding where the banquet "was in order.!
The dining hall was beautifully de-!
?^orated, the emblem of the Lodge was
in evidence. Crab apple blossoms and;
roses constituted the flowers that de '
corated the tables. Candles so ar
ranged on the tables represented, the !
^ emblem of the Masonic Order. s
The supper wa?-prepared by John
j . ' Northrop, Thomas Morris, assisted by
William Johnson of Benedict College.
Th^ general committee was composed
of Benj. Boozer, Chairman; Mos
es Cooper, Vice-Chairman; J. Mims,
J. Hudson, F. P. Paut; dfowHrd Wtt=^
liams, J. C. McClellan, Jake Stephens, I
Roland Smith and William ^Douglass.
J. Too much credit can not be given
"the members of these committees for'j
the important part each one played in'
- bringing-about the successful termina-l
tion of the united efi?prts on the part
_ of these well known Masonic Lodges.'
It was more than a celebration for"
, it keeps the high record of the Ma-'
_ sonic feeling at high tide. f
