The Blue Ridgo Railrcad. This Road, west o? Pendleton village, ex- i ccpt at the Tunn?!, lias Leon suspended for the ensuing year. In cousc-queiice of this | suspension, we were told by a contractor on the road, that corn had fallen in price from one dollar to sixty cents a bushel at the Tunnel ! Labor, the poor man's sup- j port, must likewise fall from fifteen and eighteen dollars per month to eight and ten dollars per month. So much for having money disbursed amongst us. Never was there j a more foolish idea than that of objecting : to the Hlue Kidge ltailroad by the citizens of Greenville, l'ickinsand Anderson. Tliev are repaid tenfold, by the disbursement of j the money in constructing the road, for all j . taxes they will ever have to pay on account ' ?if tln> roa<l. The co>! of the road is paid ! by the people of the lower country, who i pny the most of the laws which go into | the public treasury. Independent of this, the j city of Charleston subscribed towards the ; load one million of dollars, whilst the peo- j j>le of Greenville have not subscribed one dollar! Hut none of this money is to be ' spent in Charleston. Two millioi swill lc| spent in Pickens and Anderson Districts.' Arid yet the people of these Districts are! opposed to the construction of tlie road ! ' ?'.l'ennv wise and pound foolish," is vcrv ! applicable to those who pay fifteen thou- 1 Rand dollars towards an cnterpiize, and have 1 disbursed amongst them two millions in carrying it on to completion.
