Well, I went to Great Falls Sunday, and with me were Mrs. Anna Gau't, Mr. B. F. Gregory and Misses Nell and Sara Gregory, Mr. and Mrs. I B Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde White, T. B. Fowler and Ray "Fowler. All going in autos and we enjoyed a nice trip. On our travels through the eastern part of the county of Chester, I find that they have had hail storms,"imaging the cotton, corn and the grain crops; in fact, everything seems to hp damaged. In find a great deal of cotton had to he planted over on account of the hail; some was just coming up in some places. I guess there was near a travel of 10 or 12 utiles that seemed to he damaged. We looked on large fields of cotton that was not planted over?standing a stalk now and then, stripped with only a leaf or two and had been ploughed and worked out and left to see what it would make. The leaves on the trees were beaten off by hail and it looked like the trees had ben singed by fire where the hail beat the leaves off. I find some errors in my last week's letter which 1 will correct. it was Mrs. R. C. Tattle who visited her sister, Mrs. W. C. Edmonds, in Spartanburg instead of Mrs. R. G. Littlejohn and it was the Rev. Swope who conducted the burial services of little Rillie Edmonds at Abbeville instead of Rev. Sweet. 1 had a good friend of mine that I met the other day and he said to me ."I read your letters every week and 1 I do like to read them, but am jealous of the good dinner you fret." Well, now this is a pood friend of mine and a hip-hearted fellow, too, and I am a friend to him, with no reflection on him, but I po by special invitation. This frives me a thought, and I will mention it. There are times when a man is in agent's work or traveling business he will go into a home and get a meal when he is not expected, and is treated with the same kind of hospitality, and made welcome just the same. I am glad that we have so r-.any big hc.rtod people where I go. Pardon r.ie, my dear readers, for telling you I have been into many strangers' homes but I was not a stranger there any more and when leaving I was invited back again, d had rather have friends than and as one writer said, 'f y?u irjfc| to make friends you must show1 yClfc** self friendly. I aip glad to say that I believe I was born with some of that in me and I guess I have learnd some by experience and observation. I can take every man or woman by the hand of a bow of the head ot tip of the hat as a token of courtesy and friendship whether they want to do the same with me or not. I am not writing or boasting of anything er wanting notoriety, I am speaking from the heart. I thank God that I have many friends and few enemies, for the Bible tells us, "Woe be unto that man whom everybody speaks well of." I heard a good r:an ^ay he could tell his enemies by looking under their hats. I am going to loll yon this and then I will tell you something else. I met, a man the other day and he was a stranger and he asked me, "Don't you ivrite for the paper?" and I told him I did, and lie said he thought so for I talked like I wrote. He reads my letters and this got us acquainted. 1 appreciate all those that compliment my letters for I believe if you have anything good to say or tell about a man, tell him while he lives and don't wait until he is dead and then go and spread the flowers over his grave. You had better give him one while lives. Mrs. A. Jj. Gault has come back from Winthrop College, where she CALOMEL DYNAMITES A SLUGGISH LIVER Crashes into sour bile, making you sick and you lose a day's work Calomel salivates! It's mercury. Calomel acts like dynamite on a sluggish liver. When calomel comes intc contact with sour bile it crashes intc it, causing cramping and nausea. If you feel bilious, headachy constipated and all knocked out just go to your druggist and get a bottle ol Dodson's Liver Tone for a few cents which is a harmless vegetable substitute for dangerous calomel. Take a spoonful and if it doesn't start youi liver and straighten you up bettei and quicker than nasty calomel and without making you sick, you jusl go back and get your money. If you take calomel today you'll b? sick and nauseated tomorrow; besides, it may salivate you, while il you take Dodson's Liver Tone yot will wake up feeling great, full ol ambition and ready for work or play It's harmless, pleasant and safe tc give to children; they like it. has been to take demonstration work and learn all about the teaching and savings of these war times. Mrs. Gault went to college there several years ago and says she met many of her oid college friends. Misses Pearl Vaughan, Ituby Hornc and Vivian StofTer, all of Jonesville, ' visited Miss Mary Tweed on Sunday. Mr. Floyd C. Clarke of Jonesville, who works at the mills, says he wants me to tell through the paper that he has been a rambler and for the benefit of the young men says it is no good and if a boy has a good home he had better stay there and = be contented, for he has learned better and a great deal of this is caused from loving the girls. Yes, tfiere are mistakes made and Mr. Clarke's open confession is good for the soul. We read where there are 17 girls in the Spartanburg jail for leading dissipated lives. Who is to blame ? The parents I are larirelv responsible for the con duct of our children. You had better bend the twig while it is small, for when it is grown to be a tree you can not bend it.
