The cotton crop is short. I see in some places it is about all picked out, but the corn, peas, cane, potatoes and all vegetable crops are sure fine. I have never seen as much interest manifested by the farmers in raising food stuff. It is asserted that there has been one-third more food stuff raised this year than has ever been raised before. (By Associated Press) Westerville, O., Oct. 26.?Plans are going forward for what prohibition leaders declaie will be the most important national convention ever held by the National Anti-Saloon league when the body convenes atWashington December 10. Representatives of organized labor of the Granges, merchants and manufacturers as well as the leaders in public life, are to be asked to address the convention, and put special emphasis upon efforts to make the United States dry through the passage of an amendment to the federal constitution. A resolution looking to that end has been adopted by the Senate and is to be brought in the House early in December. Delegates from all parts of the country will attend. Senator Morris Sheppard, of Texas, Representative Edwin Yates Webb of North Carolina, Senator William E. Borah, of Idaho, and Representative Simeon D. Feds, of Ohio, have signified their inteiltion of speaking. Other senators and representatives probably will be on the program, it is announced. Othher speakers include Capt. R. P. Hobson ,of Alabama, Sam W. Small of Atlanta, ahd Mrs. Anna A. Gordon of Evanston, 111., president of the National Women's Christian Temperance Union. It is announced that every individual church organization of every denomination; every young people's society and temperance organization is entitled to send a delegate. (By Associated Press) Copenhagen, Oct. 25.?The proceeds of the Danish sea fisheries more than doubled during the past year, while the quantity of the catch increased about 40 per cent. The value for last year was nearly $10,000,000. The number of Danish fishermen is now 10,000, an increase of about 1,000, and the fishing boats number 15,400, valued at $5,000,000. Cornstalks (stover) contain 10 per cent of the food material in the corn plant. When left out all winter, without protection, much of their fool value is lost. Every effort should le made to utilize corn stover either by shredding or cutting fine before feeding, or by running it through the silage cutter to make stover silage.
