Mrs. G. L. Inman visited Miss Elizabeth Walker one day last week. Mr. DeWitte Garner went to Spartanburg on business last Saturday. Miss Virginia Hatehette gave a lawn party last Friday evening. Everybody had a "jolly good time." Mr. and Mrs. Toy Proctor spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. W. M. Farr. Mr. M. B. Holcombe returned from Tennessee last Tuesday bringing with lim his bride. His bride was Miss Mamie Mauk of Limestone, Tenn. He s greatly congratulated on winning such a popular bride. A Reader. Mr. Whitehead is visiting relatives near Kelly I see the cotton market has gont down some, like I prophesied some time ago it would. Some speculative scheme, I said thing would occur tc make prices go down, but isn't it a shame if it does, and everything keeps up. Everybody who had to buy and there is very few that didn't have to buy more or less corn, flour, bacon, everything in the way of feed stufl this year. I know some men had to buy corn this year that never had to before and they pair an enormous price, just twice what it ought to have been. Now to make things look right and make it easy should not the farmer realize a higher price for his cotton than he has ever before? Talk about regulating prices of things, if congress can or will regulate price of things they should fix cotton a standard price. There is no need of cotton going lower than 2.ri cents a pound at this time, but we see it has gone below that. God save the world, for there are men today betting on when the war will end. My! Mu! People, are there not men that would bet on the time when the world will come to an end. We see most anything taking place these days. Well, we are up apainst the war and the people of America will fiprht to a finish. There is more preparation now for war in the United States than ever there has been before. I am like Telephone said in his last, letter, how can a nation like Germany whip the world and they can't when all the forces of the United States pet ready and stands as one preat army.
