"1917 MODEL PETTICOAT'* A BAIT THEY CAN'T RESIST Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 23.? Thousands of letters ,each containing 10 cents, are pouring into the local e j/v/owviiilc u<tny i rorn women in valious parts of the country who have joined in an "endless chain" scheme promoted by the socalled "National Brokerage Exchange." Federal agents are searching for offices of the "Exchange," who arc wanted for using the mails to defraud. A room in a local business 'block, to which all the letters are addressed, was said to have been vacated three weeks ago, the authorities say. To every woman who would send 10 cents in silver and write five friends, urging them to join in the chain, the "Exchange" promised a "new 1917 model _silk petticoat." Postmaster Purdy said 25,000 letters, enclosing 25,000 dimes, had been received in one day. SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION.
