I h.tve nothing to say about the unfortunate lover of strong drink, for many of them are the biggest hearted fellows living and if I loved liquor as dear as they do and one would let me have a drink when I was thirsty for it I surely would stick to my friend, although they indeed are the worst enemies, but they don't see it now, but I hope they will realize it before it is too late. Its hard for me to decide in Telephone's words whether he is referring to me or D. L. Gault in his reference to Blease as my or his friend. If he (Telephone) knows who D. L. Gault voted for for governor it is more than I know. I never asked a man to vote for any man. If any man asked me who to vote for I surely would tell him the one I was supporting. How easy it is for one to be over zealous in a pood cause. There is no doubt in my mind, but there were hot headed prohibitionists in South Carolina who did not vote for Manning because he wouldn't sign a two quart law to take the place of a gallon-a-month law. Gov. Manning was right for the express reason or understanding with the local optionalist and the State wide prohibitionist that a gallon a month should be allowed a man a month, so Gov. Manning was right in voting the twoquart-a-month bill. Of course they wouldn't vote for Blease. Maybe they voted for DesChamps or Duncan, What has become of DesChamps' party that was going to stump the State after the primaries. I have not heard of it since the election. They seem to have forgotten their oath, but what is a man's oath in politics! Rev. J. D. Croft preached at Mt. Joy church yesterday and to receive about 20 members into full membership by baptism recently joined the church. G. T. G.
