LOCKHART JUNCTION I.ockhart Junction, May 8.?This is a beautiful time of the year when all nature is puttig forth her beauty, trees of the forest and the green fields of grai nare all arrayed in their beauty. We are only needing a good shower of rain to make things grow more beautiful and there are some signs as it is getting warmer. There is a great deal of corn to plant in this section and some cotton. Only waiting for rain, which I hope to see soon. Gardens are in need of rain and most gardens were planted late. Well, now is a leisure time with the farmer; nothing to do. Looks very much like laying by time; going fishing and to picnics as many of the rural schools are closing their sessions and giving picnics. Last Friday the Helton school closed with a picnic. Prof. A. G. Rembert of Wofford college made a fine talk on this occasion. I attended the closing exercises of county, who has been their teachers, night. This school was taught by Mr. w. ii. jonnson. ine program was about two hours long, but was fine from start to finish. The recitations and dialogues were all fine. Mr. Johnson deserves much credit for the pains taken and training of these children. Mr. Johnson will make good wherever he goes. By invitation from the teacher and pupils I attended a picnic at Piney Crove school house last Saturday and enjoyed a fine dinner. This dinner was given in honor of the teacher, Miss Willie Ingram, of Cherokee county, wh ohas been their teachers. While there Mr. R. B. Riley took me to a well where we got some water to drink. This was at his father's old home place and he told ; me this was the 99th well that Dr Whiticos of York county had duj> during his life time many years ago I met Mr. J. C. Little Adeline Edmonds, who ha been very sick, has improved so mucl the doctor has dismissed her and als the trained nurse has gone to 'he home in Spartanburg. I met Mrs. M. E. Anderson, on the films he is the dashing* lovable, oowpuncher. He has made his pile in the movies and believes Broadway is the place to spend it. He hadn't been in town but two days until he annexed the Longacre theatre from Harry Frazee. He looked it over, thought it was a pretty liitle thing and plunked down the cash for it. He owns a big theater in Fan Francisco which is a paying venture. "Broncho Billy" is very far removed from the types he portrays. To see him on Broadway in his sartorial splendor he ocldunncmfwyp to.-ial splendor he could easily be taken for one of the Brummel boys. It is said he pays $14 each for his scarfs and he purchased a dozen shirts on Fifth avenue the other day which cost hi'm $30 each.
