Mr. and Mrs. William Colton Saunders of Baltimore are the guests of their cousins, Mr. Walter Colton and Mrs. W. H. Burris. Miss Sallie Chambers, who has been in the hqspital in Columbia for several weeks, has returned to the city much improved in health. Miss Elizabeth Arthur and Myra Young were guests at the ball given at Ravadson Hall in Spartanburg on Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Lipscomb and : Miss Sara Lipscomb of Pacolet passed through Union on their return hoirsq from a visit to Mrs. M. C. Hunter at Marion. Miss Elizabeth McMaster of Winnsboro was the guest last week of her aunt, Mrs. C. H. Peake, and attended the leap year ball at the Elks Home on Friday evening. Mr. James Poole has accepted a position with the Union Carage, on Gadberry street. He has for some time been operating a car for his brother, Mr. G. G. Poole. Mrs. W. B. Gillespie returned to her home in Effingham Monday after a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Wilburn. She was accompanied by her little nephew, Paul Wilburn, Jr. Mrs. Ella D. Rodger will leave this week for Ninetv Siv to visit hoi- ci^ ter, Mrs. W. L. Saunders. She will be joined later by her daughter, Miss Annie Rodger, and together they will go to Greenwood for a visit to Mrs. Henry Tillman. Mrs. J. C. Finley was brought home Tuesday from the City hospital in Columbia ,where she went for an operation. She has recovered from the operation and is rapidly regaining her strength. This will be good news to her many friends. Mr. W. F. Doggett of Charlotte was i nthe city Saturday for a short while. Mr. Doggett formerly lived at Buffalo and was superintendent of the Buffalo Mills. He has hosts of friends in this county who are always glad to see him. Capt. J. M. Satterfield of the Salvation Army and station at Spartanburg, h^s recently been transferred to Rome, Ga. Capt.
