H. 1JONESVILLE Jonesville, Aug. 24?This is my second letter that was ever written for publication and I want to sty here, now, I never went to school but one month in my life in a school house built for that purpose. What little school training 1 have, I got by m uncle in old houses that were not for people to live in *and I never had the chance to get a longer term than three months. Now we have nice school houses all over the county and run nine months in the year. The patrons of the Gault school house gave an ice cream supper on the 28th, and a large crowd attended; we had all kinds of music, piano, organ, guitar and violin and some dancing. Everybody seem to enjoy the evening fine. But one of the greatest mistakes that any religious or Christian people could have made, was when Rev. J. S. Thrasner, was denied the privilege of making a temperance talk. As for myself 1 don't want prohibition like the preachers ana christian people say. I am no church member but I want to say here, I love a good man or woman and I would be the last man to try to stop a religious service or to hinder any man from making teniDerance talks at Gault school house. I have a good wife and four children and the older I get the more I think about the evils and trials of this life, but what encouragement do I have to unite myself with the church or a set of socalled christian people that would deny a Missionary Baptist preacher from making a temperance lecture at Gault school house, when various other entertainments were allowed. ltev. Thrasher resided in Spartanburg for two years before he came to Union and has been a resident of Union for two years. I have known him for about six manths but I have as much faith in his religion as any man in the county. He is ripe in age and I don't think or believe he has the _ intention of doing anything but the right thing, but he is not perfect and no man who reads this is. I do hope the good people of Gault school disti'ct will get togetner and all pull for the same cause and lend a helping hand to anything that is instructive and upbuilding from edu: cation and christian standpoint. D. C. White. : YOUR BODY iroiesis Against calomel You have noticed the disagreeable 1 effects of colomel, that sickening nau- < sea that is characteristic. There is i reason for tearing up your system in I such a drastic manner. ' LIV-VER-LAX, that wonderful ve- ' ' getable compound, is just as useful as 1 calomel for toning up your liver and 1 [ ridding your system of stagnating T ; poisions, and it does not make you 1 ' feel bad like calomel. It is pleasant ' to take with no unpleasant after af- ' fects. Keep it in your home for 1 health's sake. < _ If LIV-VER LAX is not entirely ' satisfactory, your money will be ret turned without question. The original 1 1 bears the likeness of L. K.
