This is a true tale. Four Newberry
legroes stole a gander on Sunday
rorn Clarence Hutchinson, and carried
it to their house 400 yards disance.
The gander's mate was greatly

Sullivan In Penitentiary
Laurens, Feb. 4.?Joseph G. Sullivan,
the young Sullivan township
farmer convicted at the last term'oi
court of manslaughter for the kiliintr
of Col. John M. Cannon, has abandoned
his appeal for a new trial and
some days ago entered the penitentiary
to begin serving his sentence
It will be remembered that he was
given a sentence of six years servitude.
By pood behavior he will secure
a reduction of six months from
the six years.

Zeke's Idea of It
A well-known congressman from
Virginia, leaving his house one morning,
forgot a letter that he had meant
