If that registers a desire 'or representation of South Carolina n the United States senate by Governor Blease, he ought to, as he will, >btain a certificate and a commission as senator from South Carolina. The question before the State convention s not the elimination of Blease or any other individual, but the integrity )f the Democratic primary. Blease s a passing figure, as is every oth?? politician, soon or late, but the luestion of a free suffrage is permaaent in South Carolina, as it is in avery self-governing commonwealth >r community. The issue before thb M Democrats of South Carolina, who H ivill assemble in convention at Co- H umbia on May 20, is a great deal jigger than Blease.
