Section 1. That the following Spec- ]
ial License Ordinance is hereby
adopted and Ordained by the City
Council on the 13th day of March,
1914, for the Fiscal Year, beginning ,
M ? 1<t. 1914.
That every person, firm or corporation
engaged in or engaging in any
trade, business or profession herein
after mentioned within the limits of
the City of Union, S. C., shall upon
engaging in said trade, business or
profession on or before May 1st, 1914,
first obtain a license from the
Clerk and Treasurer thereof, upon the
order of the Mayor, and all license.*
hereinafter mentioned, shall be nontransferable,
except by written per

otherwise specifically provided, and
all said license, and per annum, and
all annual licenses shall expire on the
1st day of May, 1915. Any license
may be revoked at any time by the
Mayor or the City Council.
Sec. 2. Every itinerant, trader or
(excent licensed auctioneer
offering for sale or attempting to sell
by sample within the City at public
outcry or otherwise, any goods
ware, fancy articles, spectacles, jewel
v. pictures, notions or other articles
of like character or kind shall
pay :n advance a license tax of noi
less than Five Dollars ($5.00) per
da\. Twenty-five Dollars ($25,001 per
week, or Two Hundred Doilars
($200.00) per year, and no plea of advertising
or selling for any person,
firm or corporation of the Citv of Union.

said license.
Sec. 3. Every itinerant physician
or vendor, seller of medicine, patent
or of his own make, or practicing as
an itinerant his profession or calling
shall nay a license tax of not less
than Ten Dollars ($10.00) per day
or Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per week,
and no plea of advertising or selling
for any person, firm or corporation of

physician, vendor or seller from the
pavment of said license.
Sec. 4. Each dray, carriage, bugg>
automobile or other power vehicle,
and each hack for public hire, conveyance
or transportation, shall havv
a number thereon and the driver of
such vehicle shall keep that numbet
exposed on such hack, dray, carriage,
buggy, automobile or other power vehicle,
and every driver thereof shau
wear a duplicate number in a conspicuous
place. The Clerk and Treasurer
shall issue for each such dray,
carriage, buggy, automobile or other
power vehicle and hack and driver,
such numbers at the issuance of license
and place the number on the
said license.
Sec. . 5. The maximum fee to be

the corporate limits of the City of
Union by such hacks, buggies, carriages
or automobiles or other power
vehicles, shall not exceed Twenty-five
Cents (25c) from any point withi

gy or other vehicle or vehicles after
the same has been declared unfit hv j
the Mayor or Chief of Police, shall
< upon conviction be fined in a sum not
exceeding Ten Dollars (SI 0.00) or
be imprisoned with or without hard
labor not exceeding twenty (20) days, '
for each offense.
Sec. 7. The above sections in reference
to inspection and charges shall '
apply to the owners or managers ofj
Livery, Feed and Sales Stables, who;
shall run drays, hacks, carriages, bug-,
gies, automobiles or other power vc-'
hides for the use of the public for'
hire, under the provisions of this Or-;
dinance.
Sec. X. Any driver or owner of any '
such hack or carriage or buggy or
automobile or other power vehicle for '
hire as aforesaid, including Livery
Feed and Sales Stables, who shall
run any such hacks, carriages, buggies,
automobiles or other power ve- '
hides, who shall leave his, her or j
their back, or carriage or buggy or,
automobile or other power vehicle
before mentioned, for a distance
greater than ten ( 10) feet in solicita- ]
tion of any passenger or otherwise a;,

a license of Fifty Dollars, per year;
Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) per quarter,
and shall have a fixed place of business,

of Twenty-five Dollars per annum, or
Seven and one-half Dollars per quarter:
Provided that this section shall
not apply to persons selling any of
the aforesaid kinds of meats in quae- tities
of not less than one-quarter o;
the animal. Such person shall first
make and file an affidavit with the
Clerk and Treasurer of the City Coun- ^
cil, setting forth the name and postoffice
address of the person proposing
to sell. Second, That the animal
butchered was raised upon the farm
of the proposed vendor; Third, that
tne meat to be offered is in sound ^

"For Napoleon and France" is the
title of George Kleine'a latest feature
film production, which was released
several days ajco. Throughout it bears
evidence of the master hand which
made "Quo Vadis" and "The Last
nays 01 rompen, in tne nanaiing 01
the thousands of people who appear
in this picture, the beautiful settings,
and the superb photography. The
production is made in six parts, containing
in all 0,500 feet, and runs a
little over an hour and a half. "For
Napoleon and France" will be shown
at the Edisonia one day only, Friday,
April 3d. Special matinee, one complete
performance starting at 3:30.
