LOCKHART JUNCTION w _ cl We have a cold visitor at last and J?* X am afraid it will make its visit too -n long:. We ought not to complain .for . we have had a very mild winter up to this time. ^ I have been asked repeatedly why I could not write something about the ^ widowers, widows and old maids or bachelors. I have said they have already been written about and some ei say why don't you defend yourself Qtirl tlin nf Knl*c Woll nno uri/^Aurno ?*nu vuv w?vi?* ?* vii) vii*/ muvnv* said to me sometime back, when he ^ read about the widowers in the correspondent's letter, "They are makinjr fun of us." I said, "No," I thought f( not; it is all for fun. He saicf he t( thought that way about it too ana he seemed pleased when I told him _( what I thought. There are five wid- S( owers in this community, all when at home are in hollering distance of each other and there is one widow. All of these are as good people as the county affords and all have something laid up for a rainy day ,and I w guess they think it no disgrace to be w a widow or widower and if they want jr to marry, they know they have once w and can again if they want to. Now, as I told the old maids, we don't have many in this community s< and one or two of them are school teachers and they are nice clever la- g dies, treating everybody with kind- g ness and respect. Thepe teachers, I will take the privilege of saying, are making $40 or $50 per month for p icucnmg ana can lane care ot No. 1. g As to the bachelors, they have not married, and I think they ought to. n Mr. W. Foster has moved into this tl section and will farm on Mrs. R. A. t Whitlock's place. f: A relative of mine in Texas sends d me the Wolfe City Sun and I send him ti the Union Times. I read in his pa- n per that a hen laid an agg with an b inscription on it saying:, "The Lord li cometh in 1914". I don't suppose this is a fairy tale for the man says he il has it at his home to show for itself, p If it was not so far away I w.ould go to see it. b While traveling in Cherokee county N. last week I stopped at the home of Mr. H. J. Harris and sure gbt a good h dinner. t< Mr. E.
