DEXTER GOAD IS YET TO BE TRIED. Allen Sympathizers Say They Will Yet Prosecute Him?Case To Be Tried in Two Weeks?Clerk of jCourt May Yet Hare To Answer Perjury Charge. t Richmond, Va., April 14.?The program of the Allen sympathizers is said to be unchanged as regards heir intention to attempt to prosecute Dexter Goad, clerk of the circuit court of Carroll county atHillsville, who has been charged with committing perjury at the trials of the clansmen in Wytheville. Attorney Lauis O. Wendenburg, of Richmond at the request of the sympathizers in Richmond has prepared a statement in which he expressed the belief that a ^vvu v,ooc wuiu uo uiauc vut a^aiuav Goad, if the sympathizers desired to prosecute the matter further. This statement he forwarded to L. Scherer, who inturn, handed it to others. It is understood that this docuument is at present in Roanoke in the office of Attorney R. H. Willis who was council for Claude Allen and who was very active in all of the proceedings before Governor MannC the supreme court of appeals of Virginia and the supreme court of the United States in an effort to save the lives of the doomed father and son, more nartieuallv the life of Claude. It is said by certain sympathizers that the arrest of Goad might be looked for within the next two tfeeks and that a prosecution of the court clerk would most certainly follow in the' event of his indictment. It is said that the Allen case will be made a political issue during the coming I elections in southwestern Virginia and that the prosecution of Clerk Dexter Goad, should such a proceedin reality result, will be conducted with vigor. After a whispered conference he sang the glorious aria "Celeste Aida". At the afternoon game seven hundred Winthrop Girls will be on the grounds to cheer their favorites to victory. Following the awarding of medals at the oratorical contest a reception will be givtn at Winthrop College in honor of the speakers, judges and noted visitors. This will give the college boys and other friends as well an opportunity of meeting the Winthrop students. On Saturday there will be a ball game between Carolina and Wake Forest College, of North Carolina.
