Mrs. George Perrin has returned from a visit to her daughter, Miss Mary Perrin, at the College for Women in Columbia, and the Misses McMaster at Winnsboro. There will be preaching at the Cross Roads school house on the afternoon of the fourth Sunday in March by Rev. D. E. Camak, and on the 6th Sunday morning by Rev. C. F. Felmet. Rev. J. H. Manly, now of Phoenix, but formerly pastor in charge of the Kelton circuit, is visiting in Union and out on the Ridge this week. Mr. Manly is well pleased with his field in Greenwood county. Mr. M. P.| Dabbs, of Gainesville, Ga., has arrived in Union and has assumed the duties of superintendent of the Union Ice and Fuel Company. Mr. Dabbs has moved his family to Union. Mr. B. T. Porter, of Pacolet, Route 1, was in Union last week on business. He had not visited Union in fifteen years, and says he notes many changes during his absence. He is a brother of Mr. J. B. Porte*, a former resident of Union, who now resides in Chester. / Miss Robertson Has Appendicitis. The music pupils of Miss Beatrice Wilburn will give a recital at the High School auditorium on Fridaj evening, February 28th at 8 o'clock A delightful program has been prepared and the event is looked for ward to with interest. Woman's Club Entertained. On Saturday evening, George Washington's birthday, the Woman's Club of Ottaray entertained at s beautiful banquet in the Ottarj school auditorium in honor of the Monarch Woman's Club. The affaii was a brilliant one and successful in every respect and was highly enjoyed by the guests. Partners were found for supper by matching pieces of hearts bearing the name of Washington. After this feature they were ushered into the supper room, which was beautifully decorated in festoons of red, white and blue, and flags with many beautiful potted plants making indeed a scene of beauty under the glow of many lights. Covers- were laid for sixty places which were marked with small red hatchets. After l> onenrVi nf njnlnAmn by Mrs. Montjoy, the president of Ottary Club, a delicious supper consisting of chicken salad, crackers, sandwiches, pickles, pound cake, ambrosia and coffee was served. After supper a very instructive and interesting lecture on the life and times of George Washington, illustrated by steroptican views was given by Miss May Jones, of Greenville and much enjoyed. In behalf of the Monarch Club Mrs. Danner, the president of the club expressed the thanks of her club for they had enjoyed and a very pleasant evening came to a close. A. G. H.
