West Springs, July in.?The West Springs Camp Woodmen of the World held memorial services at Sulphur Springs and West Springs on last Sunday a week ago. The grave of the late Mr. Isaac M. Lancaster at Sul phur Springs was decorated in the morning. In the afternoon the graves of the late Sovereigns S. E. West and G. P. Beck were decorated at West Springs. Mr. T. J. Betenbauph of Union delivered a most excellent address at each place. The Cross Keys camp W. O .W. unveiled a monument to the memory o fthe late Mr .Arthur Willard at Putnam on last Sunday afternoon. There was an unusually large crowd present to witness the exercises. Mr. Albert E. Hill of Spartanburg, and Mr. Leroy S. Townsend delivered the addresses of the occasion. Mr .David B. West was quite ill for a day or two the past week, but is now very much improved. Dr. and Mrs. W. T. Derieux, of Greenville, are guests at the West Springs hotel this week. Mr. Pierce Mayes was quite sick for several days the past week, but has now recovered. Messrs. Johnnie F. West and Wesley H. Lawson went to Spartanburg Tuesday on business. Mr. P. A. Hodges, the Financial agent of Columbia Female College made an address at Bogansville on Sunday afternoon; Mr. Henry M. West, who is working on the court house at Union, spent the week-end hej-e with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Williams abd little son, Robert, of Union, spent Sunday here as guests of Mrs. Wil liam's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. West. Messrs. John and Tinie Sumner, of Cross Anchor, spent Sunday here with friends. Mrs. J .11 Lancaster, of Union, is visiting relatives here this week. Misses May Miller and Kate O'Shields of Spartanburg, spent the week-end here with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. J. Wallace Lawson, of Cedar Bluff, spent Sunday here with friends. Miss Annie Cunningham, of Union, is spending the week here with the family of Rev. F. H. Poston. Mr. John L. Johnson went to Union Monday on business. Mr .and Mrs. Victor Lawson, of Ce aar mun ,spent ounaay anernoon at West Springs. Black of Jonesville, is in the community now with his thresher. The grafri crop in this sectio nis turning out very sorry. The Putnam Camp W. O. W. is preparing for a big time on July 25th. A barbecue will be served. The meeting is fraternal and political. All the candidates are invited. Candidates for solicitor will be present to speak. The speaking will begin at 10:30 o'clock. News From Adamshurg. Adamsburg, July 16.?The farmers in this community are busy laying by their crops. The corn and cotton are looking fine. Some of the crops are grassy on account of so much rain. Mrs. J. T. Scales and daughter, Miss Nolah, and little grand-daughter, Mabel, visited at Mr. J. A. Orr's Sunday. Misses Nettie, Ella, and Marie Vaughan spent Sunday evening with the Misses Orr. Miss Annie Charles of Union is visiting her sister, Mrs. L. H. Adams. Messrs. William Vaughan, Sewell Scales, Tom Nance, and Giles Sinclair spent a pleasant evening Sundtty at Mr. J. A. Orr's. Mrs. Wm. Vaughan spent Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Palmer. . Mr S. M. Smith snent the wonlf-onH with his sister, Mrs. J. T. Scales. Mr. Tom Nance spent Saturday night with his uncle, Mr. S. M. Smith. Mr .and Mr?. J. W. Parr spent Sunday and Monday with Mrs. J. E. Crocker. Mr. W. S. Vaughan of Union spent Saturday night with Arthur Vaughan. Miss Annie Orr spent Saturday afternoon with Miss Annie Charles. Mr. J. A .Orr spent Sunday evening with Mr. J. T. Scales. Master Peter Arthur of Union spent the week-end with Hoyt Adams. Some of you members of the Sunday School at Phillippi have forgotten that we have Sunday School haven't you? Yes we have Sunday School every Sunday and will be glad to have you all come back again.
