The annual meeting of the association is to be held this year in Spartanburg on June 10 and 11. The programme is interesting and contains the names of snar.y of the leading newspaper men in the State. Among the subjects to be discussed are the following: "The Editorial Page?Has it a Place jn the Country Newspaper?" by Allison Lee, editor of the Laurens Advertiser. "Journalistic Ethics," by W. E. Gonzales, editor of The State. "The; Newspaper Man's Duty ana Opportunity With Regard to State Legislation," Neils Christensen, editor off. the Beaufort Gazette. "Hafidling Circulation," by E. D. Sallen?er, business manager of the Florence Times. Mechanical Excellence?How to of&ffitot-and Maintain it." by A. W. Knight, ecTitor of the Bamberg Herald. "The Cost System in Newspaper Printing Shops and in the South Carolina Master Printers' Association," by A. B. Other subjects will be taken up during the meeting and discussed in a general way. Annual Trip. On Wednesday, June. 12, the press ass&rtion will start on a trip over the 1C., C. and O. railway from Spartanburg^ to Dante, Va. The trip wilt be an interesting one through the coal fields along the C., C. & O., and the road has offered special rates for all newspaper men who go. Mefsrs. B. T. and W. D. Vaughan spent a few pleasant days with friends and relatives at Monarch. Mr. E. A. Brakefield spent Saturday and Sunday with his parents at Monarch. Mr. W. C. Blackwell of Buffalo spent Saturday and Sunday with friends and relatives in our community. Miss Nettie Vaughan spent Sunday afternoon with the Misses Vanderford. Messrs. W. D. and W. A. Palmer spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. Ashmore Vanderford. Sevejrtl of our people attended the Lwitf^cratic convention at Union on Monday. Mrs. Robert Vaughan has a curiosity in the egg line. She found a small egg in a large turkey egg that had gotten broken. It has a hard shell and is about half as large aa a guinea egg. Several of our people went to Union Monday to get registration tickets, but there was such a large crowd that they did not get any.
